eManners:  the Set-Up

Picture

The goal of eManners is to bring participants to awareness of the underlying 'drives' that spring forth our behaviors in media and, thus, consideration of them within electronic communications.

eManners is a dynamic between three core concepts:
     - Self-Awareness & Accountability
                                                    - Reality
                                                    and
                                                    - Responsibility

Self-Awareness & Accountability

This part of the dynamic examines, defines, and describes the core 'drives' or beliefs that we tend not to be aware of that lead to those things we do.  In Self-Awareness & Accountability we take a deep, careful look at those things that we are accountable for, that always come back to us and, therefore, that we must be aware of first:

                            - UNBREAKABLE:  Integrity...The Golden Rule & Boundaries
                            - PENDULUM:  Purpose...Intent & Desire
                            and
                            - 20/20 VISION:  Hindsight...Truth & Consequences

Reality

Communications media and "cyberspace" provide an environment where the user often finds it easy to "escape" the real world.  "Cyberspace" implies a parallel world, existence, space, a parallel dimension.  "Reality" argues and maintains that this is incorrect; that the way one conducts him- or herself in the tangible, physical world is the way one must conduct him- or herself in cyberspace - the same social rules and graces apply as there is no separation between digital and physical.  Reality examines and discusses topics such as:

                            - The Seer:  Intended & Unintended Audience
                            - Don't be Smokey:  Anonymity & Privacy
                            and
                            - Forever Hold Your Peace:
Permanence & Trust

Responsibility

Upon the discovery of Self-Awareness & Accountability and Reality the media user is left with the question of "now what?"  The final section of eManners:  Social Skills in eLife, eBIZ, & edu answers this question.  Responsibility covers material that the user is ultimately responsible for and must me responsible in using.  This point exposes and discusses the following:
                            - Finger Farts & Free Speech:  Free Speech
                            - Legal Disclaimer:  Copyright, Infringement, & Plagiarism
                            and
                            - Full of It:
Substance, Meaning, & Content

Don't Get Caught with Your Pants Down is the examination of all core concepts and ties them together.  It explores how different tools and concepts are used to communicate simultaneously and in conjunction.
